The Associação de Turismo do Porto e Norte, A.R. – Porto Convention & Visitors Bureau is a non-profit organization, founded in 1995 by a group of institutions interested in the development of the tourist activity in Porto and in the North of Portugal.
The purpose of the Bureau is to externally develop and promote Porto and the North of Portugal as a tourist destination, contributing decisively as a catalyst of the image of prestige and reputation in several international markets.
The Porto City Hall currently takes on the Administration's Chairmanship, and there are other Municipalities that are part of its group of associates, with a highlight to the Espinho, Braga and Gondomar City Hall.
It is important to note the valuable contribution of the Porto metropolitan area, whose articulation with ATP has revealed its profitability, having this partnership a strategic and unbreakable nature to the Destination.
The main economic agents from Porto and from the North of Portugal are ATP's associates:
- For private entities, we highlight, among others: Port and Douro Wines Institute, University of Porto, AEP, APHORT, APAVT, AMTC – Association for the Museum of Transport and Communications, Arouca Geopark Association, Serralves Foundation, The Romanesque of the Tâmega and Sousa, and the main stakeholders in the region (hotels, travel agencies, professional organizers of congresses, congress centres, tourist carriers, farms, Port Wine cellars, restaurants, audiovisual companies, etc.)
The ATP is an institution with recognized experience and skills in the promotion of its strategic products (MI – Meeting Industry, City Breaks, Touring and Nature, Wines and Gastronomy) in the several international markets.
The ATP, for its representativeness, commitment and know-how, was appointed by the Turismo de Portugal as the only entity from Porto and from the North of Portugal eligible to the promotion of the Destination in the quality of Regional Agency for the Destination's Touristic Promotion.
The ATP's current Administration, headed by the Porto City Hall, set new models of resources management and revolutionized the promotion strategy, based on proximity and transparency, promoting new synergies, consolidating the existing ones and implementing joint solutions with the Associates in order to assure maximum efficiency in the external promotion of the Destination!
