By the water
Portugal has a mild climate, blessed by the sun, and to the north you can find golf courses in summer locations. If you are looking for a destination with beaches, very close to Porto, visit Esposende, Espinho, Póvoa de Varzim and Vila Nova de Gaia.
Further south, take a swing at Estela Golf Club in Póvoa de Varzim, or at the Miramar Golf Club in Gaia. Watch a theater show or a concert and sample the cuisine of our best chefs.
In Espinho go to the Oporto Golf Club. The oldest golf course in the Iberian Peninsula was founded by British citizens in the late nineteenth century. In between the games of golf, enjoy the sun and extensive beach of this ancient fishermen's village that only in the nineteenth century became a seaside resort and play one of several modalities in the casino.
In Amarante, you can play golf and stroll through the picturesque homes that tower over both banks of the Tâmega River, the longest afluent of the Douro, which is born in Galicia and runs through the heart of the city.
Do not forget, by the sea, enjoy getting to know our hospitality and good food. Near the coast, the cuisine has another flavor, colors have other shades and scents have other aromas. All the conditions for you to focus on your game.
In the mountain
In Vidago in the mountain filled municipality of Chaves, you will find one of the best golf courses in the North, the Vidago Palace Golf Course. This 18-hole golf course is part of a park where a palace from the early twentieth century has been recently restored and turned into hotel. There is also a spa with an area of 2,000 square meters designed by the architect Álvaro Siza Vieira.
In addition to golf, the more active people can go on bike and horseback rides, play tennis or take a dip in the hotel pool.
The Axis Golf Ponte de Lima is integrated into a hotel unit and in the typical rural environment of Minho, at Ponte de Lima. This golf course is a mix of plains with mountain. The site, idyllic, is ideal to relax and forget the rest of the world.
In the land of the famous Vinho Verde (White Wine), pay attention to the local heritage, which includes a large number of manors and houses, many of which are now adapted for rural tourism.
Visiting the historical center of the town on foot is well worth your while - around the Roman bridge that crosses over the river Lima. It is from that bridge and river that the name of this ancient land came.
