The historical cities and villages of Northern Portugal offer unique experiences that allow you to experience the true reality of the Northern Portugal.

Apart from a historical heritage and very rich landscapes, on your visit you can count on an abundant and varied gastronomic selection, as well as a number of traditional festivals, symbolic of the region’s cultural identity.

In Minho, set aside two days for getting to know the cities of Viana do Castelo, Ponte de Lima, Barcelos, Guimarães and Braga.

On the first day, visit Viana do Castelo and go to Santa Luiza hill to enjoy the magnificent panoramic views.

Have lunch in Ponte de Lima and discover the city center: the old Roman Bridge, its churches and squares, and rest in one of the region’s inns, surrounded by a lush and inspiring green landscape.

On the second day, experience Braga and its Cathedral, the oldest in the country, and enjoy its exuberant buildings.

Next, head to downtown Guimarães to walk the streets of the first Portuguese city and dine in one of its traditional restaurants.

In Trás-os-Montes, set aside three days to experience Chaves and Bragança.

In Chaves, pass through “Aquae Flaviae”, the Roman Bridge over the Tâmega River, the medieval castle and the Misericórdia church, for example.

In Bragança, discover the impressive medieval wall and The Keep.
